The analogy of Jesus Christ as the foundation and cornerstone of the Church and the Christian Faith is one of the most beautiful pictures in the Bible. Understanding it will help one to know why Christianity is the only hope for salvation and success in life, and why the Church that we read about in the Bible is the only Church that will stand and succeed in its divine purpose! We hope that this lesson will encourage and edify you.
This sermon is the first installment in a new series entitled: Why the Church of Christ? We live in an era of inclusivism and personalized everything, including religion. Because of this, people give little thought to which church or religion they are associated with (if even taking such things seriously). This series is designed to show that the Church is a part of God's plan to save mankind from sin, death and hell; also, that Jesus built one Church and purchased that Church with His own blood. It is our conviction that the only true church is the Church that is presented in the Bible, that is the church belonging to Jesus Christ. It is our hope that after studying through this series all will plainly see that we need to be in Christ's Church. In this sermon we examine the question: Who Established the Church of Christ? As we look to the Bible for an answer to this question, we will consider the implications of an "established church" and also look through history at some fact concerning the origin of various human denominations.
